History
Established in 1979 as a steel fabrication business located in Maddington Western Australia, the current shareholders acquired Steelstruct Engineering in 1996 with the vision of creating a multi –disciplined business with capabilities aligned to the demands of Australia’s burgeoning mining and resource markets.
Central to the realisation of that vision was the strategic acquisition and establishment of operations that deliver complimentary and integrated capabilities through to our customer base.
In 2000 we acquired and integrated Micron Precision Machining located in Yarloop Western Australia into our company. CNC machining remains a core discipline and we continue to invest strongly in machine renewals and additions.
In 2004 we acquired and integrated a hardfacing business (Weldtronics) into our company. The acquisition was strategically aligned to the hardfacing and wear application demands of our incumbent customers. It also allowed for the expansion of those offerings through to the resource sector on the East Coast of Australia.
The company expanded its Maddington facility during 2007 with the acquisition and development of an adjoining property providing for 1,000m2 of additional workshop area and modern 2 story offices.
Recognising the need to develop a company that accommodates the flexibility required of a continually changing market, we established our Thailand Chon Buri facility during 2008. Strong demand for fabricated goods from that division resulted in the relocation to our modern facility in Rayong during 2013. At 3,400m2 under roof, within close proximity to port facilities, and accredited to ISO 9001:2015 our Thailand operation further enhances Steelstructs strong value proposition.
During 2016, positioning the business for future growth, we secured an additional 8,200m2 facility in the strategically located Henderson Australian Marine complex. With infrastructure upgrades completed during 2017, the facility delivers fabrication and CNC machining services from our 6,200 m2 modern workshops and 2,000 m2 of hardstand.
Today, Steelstruct manufactures from a combined 13,400m2 of workshops and employs a skilled workforce of 170 led by a dedicated and highly experienced senior management team. Our goal remains that of being the best supplier in the eyes of all our customers by delivering high quality services safely and on schedule.
